Guided tour of the On our Shores exhibition at the Dorval Museum of Local History and Heritage

This exhibition looks at the events that have taken place on the shores of Lake Saint-Louis, going back to the arrival of Dorval's first European settlers.

The On our Shores exhibition will be presented from June 21 to September 30, 2007. The museum (1850 Chemin Bord-du-Lac - Lakeshore, Dorval) is open Thursday to Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. For information, call 514-633-4314.

Free guided tours on weekends from June till October. The exhibition presents about twenty of the artist's major works, including an outdoor sculpture on the museum's grounds.

Lectures on the windmills of Quebec

History of the windmills of Quebec, Alan Stewart, historian. Quebec's windmills: a rare and forgotten heritage, Claude Arsenault. Technical aspects of windmills, Chris Gibbings, expert on windmills.

These lectures are presented at the École Marguerite-Bourgeoys (1 Rue Sainte-Anne, Pointe-Claire). This activity is a part of the event Visits and lectures on the windmills of Quebec. Before the conferences, visits will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Pointe-Claire and Île Perrot windmills.

You will discover the inspiring stories of the people who form our social landscape. This visit will be followed by a workshop where you will create a postcard in the style of Notman.

All workshops and activities are bilingual and included with Museum admission, unless otherwise indicated. Opening hours Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open Mondays on holiday weekends and during the summer months, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm.

Visits of the Pointe-Claire and the Île-Perrot windmills

» Société pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine de Pointe-Claire in collaboration with the Francophone Committee of ICOMOS Canada

Guided visit of the Pointe-Claire fortified windmill, built in 1709, and of the Île Perrot fortified windmill, built in 1707. The windmills will be working if there is enough wind.

The two windmills will be open simultaneously between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Visitors must provide their own transportation between the windmills. This activity is a part of the event Visits and lectures on the windmills of Quebec. Following the visits, lectures will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the École Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Pointe-Claire.
